EMERGING FROM THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY: The 2021 American Political Landscape Part 1

  • COMMON POWER PO Box 51125 Seattle, WA 98115 United States (map)

This is a two-lecture series, Monday May 3 + Tuesday May 4. From the moment Donald Trump descended down the hotel escalator into American presidential politics in 2015, we were in profound national chaos and turmoil for more than four years. He did not birth these realities, but he escalated them to his advantage. Millions have suffered because of Trumpism, hundreds of thousands have died, international alliances have been sundered, and our political system experienced -- and still does -- existential peril. Roughly 100 days into the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris, let’s take stock of the political landscape at this unprecedented moment in America. What did we lose, what did we learn, what must we do? This lecture series cannot possibly cover all the impacts of the Trump presidency, but it will hit major takeaways. We must never be here again.

Note: this lecture series will be 80% a repeat of the same series I delivered in January, 20% updated and new based on the first 100 days of the Biden/Harris administration. Lectures both (a) will occur live at 5 pm PDT on May 3 and May 4 via Zoom, and (b) will be recorded for everyone to watch on your own timing. Registrants will receive viewing instructions one day in advance of each lecture and then one hour before each lecture. There are five levels of registration for these lectures, starting at FREE and working their way up. The content is the same across the levels; the different price points are merely for you to pick the one you wish!
