2026 GOALS

WIN THE HOUSE + WIN THE SENATE

PROTECT OUR PEOPLE

STRATEGIC DIRECTION

Common Power is a civic amplifier that determines how resources are distributed independent of donor or corporate influence. In an era of A.I., biased news, and social media, volunteering to connect with voters at their doors is still the most effective way to win elections and that’s what we do best.

We’re most effective in key swing states where the margin of difference falls below 10% but the primary determinate of how we choose candidates is the importance of the seat within the national political landscape and the campaigns values.

NATIONAL IMPORTANCE

When we look at the national landscape, our internal process takes key data into account including:

  1. Feedback from affected communities

  2. Direction from local partners on the ground

  3. Interest from our volunteers

  4. Number of seats needed for a majority in congress

When looking at the values of a candidate/campaign we look for the following:

  1. Candidates that work to expand the democratic coalition by pushing for progressive values

  2. Taxing the rich

  3. Pushing policies that support working class people and affordability.

ALIGNED VALUES

Let’s be clear, regardless of who we choose in primary elections, CoPo will ultimately support the Democratic candidate in general elections because a Democratic majority in the House and Senate is our best chance at pushing progressive policies forward and fighting the Trump Administration.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMMING

Civic engagement should not be driven by political crises. Elections naturally have periods of low and high intensity. Instead of constantly ramping up or spinning down, we sustain our work through programming and community.

  • We have year round programming dedicated to engage and educate volunteers. Whether it is through the Institute for Common Power's programing, or Action Assembly sessions, the action we take is catalyzed through education

  • A movement lasts beyond an election and building capacity for our future ensures the work continues. Young leaders (currently Gen Z) operate in decision-making positions as they organize actions and lead teams in the field. Growing the next generation of civically committed leaders is the best investment in our democracy.

  • We keep our skills sharp with year round volunteer training. We don’t get ready, we stay ready. We offer training in live zoom sessions for all levels of volunteers to Learn how we travel and prepare for action on the ground.

  • We have Common Powered Hubs in Washington State, Colorado, and, California.

  • We build voting habits with voters through regular voter registration and voter education events.
