Support a More Just
& Inclusive Democracy
READ OUR 2025 IMPACT REPORT
Common Power is the nation’s premier Organizing Force for recruiting, educating, and mobilizing next-generation leaders and everyday volunteers to win elections.
Common Power is working every day to foster, support, and amplify a democracy that is just and inclusive. We do this through a system of civic education, leadership development, and political action. We are in a defining moment for democracy, and we believe it is essential to take action. In the words of American hero John Lewis, “When we pray, we move our feet.”
In 2026, we have one goal: to build an army of volunteers who will mobilize voters to win the elections for the US House and US Senate. This is our Midterms Mission. All of our education, leadership development, and action are driving toward this goal.
Please join us by donating if you wish and can.
Common Power is a family of organizations: a Political Action Committee (Common Power PAC), a 501c3 (Common Power Future), and a 501c4 (Common Power). Financial integrity and transparency are core values for us. We file public monthly FEC reports for every dollar raised and spent in our PAC and SPAC, and every report since we began in July 2018 can be found here! Our 501c3's annual 990 reports can be found here for 2021 fiscal year and here for 2022 fiscal year and here for 2023 and here for 2024. We created a 501c4 in 2023, and here is our 2023 990 form, and here is our 2024 990 form
Here is our 2025 annual report for the full family of Common Power organizations. 2024’s report is here and 2023’s report is here. In creating these aligned yet distinct organizations, we are able to be strategically flexible and maximize the impact with the financial support we receive. It also makes it easy for supporters to direct funds to specific initiatives within CoPo. Donation details using either option are outlined below. Common Power's c3 and c4 organizations have governing boards of 6 members: Charles Douglas, Ellen Ferguson, Gale Picker, Larcy Douglas, Steve Romein, and David Domke.
Common Power partners with trusted legal, regulatory, and HR services that provide a foundation of support as we innovate in education, political, and leadership development spaces.

Common Power Future 501(c)(3)
We have a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, “Common Power Future.” Donations to our (c)(3) go towards our educational and leadership development programs. These include two world-class programs: (1) Action Academy, which is both a virtual 10-week paid summer internship designed for college-aged students to explore the history of voting rights in America and a set of subsequent curated leadership opportunities for Academy graduates; and (2) the Institute for Common Power, which offers courses, lectures, workshops, and learning tours of the American South, with a particular emphasis on Kindergarten-to-Higher Education teachers. We are also super glad to receive donations via check written to “Common Power Future,” mailed to Common Power, PO Box 51125, Seattle WA 98115.
Support Political
Action
Political Action Committee
PAC stands for “Political Action Committee.” Donations to the Common Power PAC give our organization the most freedom and flexibility in terms of how we use our dollars. The primary way we use PAC money is political, such as supporting candidates, working in elections, and mobilizing with a certain political party. The vast majority of our PAC dollars go to sponsoring next-generation leaders – from our Action Academy and Institute programming – to mobilize volunteers. As a result, these donations both (a) elevate next-gen leaders and (b) facilitate our support of candidates across the country. Donations to PACs are not tax-deductible and are publicly reported to the Federal Election Commission in monthly reports. We are also super glad to receive donations via check written to "Common Power PAC," mailed to Common Power, PO Box 51125, Seattle WA 98115.
Common Power 501(c)(4)
Our 501(c)(4) is our parent organization, Common Power. This c4 provides a highly valuable organizational avenue of impact: the names of all donors to our c4 are not legally required to be publicly reported, and therefore people can keep their political contributions private. With these funds, we still have plenty of freedom to do our political action, except our organization cannot “coordinate” with a candidate or party running for electoral office. This means that our support for them must be done in partnership with an on-the-ground c4, which is just fine! We are also super glad to receive donations via check written to “Common Power,” mailed to Common Power, PO Box 51125, Seattle WA 98115. Donations to our c4 are not tax-deductible.
Other Ways to Give
We also gladly welcome more complex donations, such as stock and wire transfers. If you have additional questions regarding your donation, please contact Development Associate Abby Merritt at abby@commonpower.org.
IF YOU CAN’T TRAVEL
SUPPORT ANOTHER VOLUNTEER TO TRAVEL!
Consider helping CP bring another doorknocker instead! Sponsorships go towards transportation, lodging, and meals on the grounds for sponsored volunteers. We primarily sponsor Academy students and Institute Educators, our younger and more diverse pathways into the CP community.
