AJ's Special Session: Underrepresented Minorities in STEM Higher Education

  • COMMON POWER PO Box 51125 Seattle, WA 98115 United States (map)

We are living in a time where universities and colleges across the country are making "bold" statements about diversity and inclusion while continuing to enforce policies and practices that directly contradict their stated intention. There are holes in the academic pipeline that directly contribute to racial disparities in higher education, especially in STEM fields, and people have been slow to change it. Black and brown people are underrepresented in STEM because that is the intention.

It’s been 67 years this month since the landmark Brown v. Board of Education Supreme Court case and access to educational opportunities for Black and Brown students across the spectrum is still littered with racism. For this special session, we will hear from T'Keyah Johnson, a higher education professional who will give us an inside look at underrepresented minorities in STEM higher education.
