In this four lecture course, Dr. Hasan Kwame Jeffries will take a thematic approach to exploring and making sense of the most troubling aspects of United States history.

Lectures:

  1. Racism: Dr. Jefries will discuss the Founders, the Lost Cause, and Massive Resistance.

  2. Resistance: Dr. Jeffries will discuss the Underground Railroad, Black Wall Street, and the Black Panthers

  3. Democracy: Dr. Jeffries will discuss Reconstruction, Disenfranchisement, Voting Rights Act, and Voter Organizing

  4. Mobility (Immobility): Dr. Jeffries will discussion the Slave Trade (international and domestic), Convict Leasing and Debt Peonage, and the Great Migration
