Democracy is Winning: It's Time for 2023 and 2024

  • COMMON POWER PO Box 51125 Seattle, WA 98115 United States (map)

It is now seven years since the political disaster of November 2016. It’s been a traumatic, very hard season for democracy and for America, especially in communities of color and women. We are still in the midst of a political, racial, and moral crucible. But we now have enough evidence to say with confidence that democracy is winning. This hasn’t just luckily happened; it’s occurred because people and organizations have mobilized, and have made democracy a verb. Education must be paired with action. This lecture discusses four key ACTIONS – the “Democracy Middle” that has formed, Gen Z political engagement, fighting for reproductive rights after the Dobbs decision, and holding Donald Trump legally accountable – that are undergirding today's successful struggle for American democracy. Fyi: Everyone must do their part. Every registration dollar for this lecture will go to support voter mobilization efforts by Common Power in 2023 and 2024.
