This week looks to be a now or never moment for the Democratic Party’s goal of passing federal voting rights legislation. In a memo letter to party colleagues, Democrats’ Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer, said he plans to push for filibuster reforms THIS WEEK that would enable Democrats to overcome unified Republican opposition to voting equality and justice. On Tuesday, President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris will deliver high-profile speeches about voting rights in Georgia, and civil rights leaders are optimistic that the White House is ready to genuinely spend political capital on the most common power that all American adults should have: the right to vote.
Join CP leaders Maggie Rittenhouse and David Domke on Thursday at 10.30 am Pacific for a half hour of updates and a right-then, right-there action step of calling the White House.
