This is a three-lecture series Oct 12 + Oct 13 + Oct 14. Here’s the details: The American experiment in democracy is an idea. For nearly 250 years, it has been enacted in some ways that are inspiring and amazing, and it has been enacted in some ways that are oppressive, violent, and devastating. But still, the ideals call to us. Today, the America and the democracy we thought we knew is at fundamental risk. How we as Americans act in the 2020 election will determine both (a) the future of our nation and world, and (b) how each of us, personally, will answer to all who come after us. These lectures will walk in real-time through the 2020 presidential election. There are 3 "Acts" in this lecture series. The first Act was in January (focused on Democrats), the second Act was in April (focused on Republicans), and this series covers the third Act (with a focus on the Nation). Note: this lecture series will be 80% a repeat of the same series I delivered in September, 20% updated and new! Here's the lectures:
Oct 12: American Democracy in Crisis
Oct 13: The Presidency and Leadership
Oct 14: The Senate, for the Win
Speaker: David Domke
Lectures (a) will occur live at 7 pm PDT on October 12, 13, and 14 via Zoom, and (b) will be recorded for everyone to watch on your own timing. Registrants will receive viewing instructions one day in advance of each lecture and then one hour before each lecture.
