Music, Social Movements, and Democracy

  • Washington Hall 153 14th Avenue Seattle, WA, 98122 United States (map)

Join a special evening with Brothers Four member Mark Pearson, who has spent more than five decades writing and singing and playing music, as well as being engaged in the civic arena. In his commitment to democracy, he has marched, he has protested, he has worked and walked miles with diverse others. In his professional music work, he has performed all over the world both as part of the Brothers Four and as a solo artist. He went to the University of Washington in the 1960s, but left before completing his degree in order to go change the world. He has returned and will graduate in spring 2019.

In this evening, Mark will talk about how music informs and inspires social movements, share stories about his work and civic engagement, ask and answer questions, sing, and provide insights about the relations among music, movements, and democracy. He will have his guitar at all times. More on Mark is here: https://markpearsonmusic.com
